Top-Level Combat Tips

  • 1 of 10: At the top of the stairs, keep left and move forward very slowly until a couple of manhacks appear.
  • 2 of 10: Get the gravity gun out so you can blast them away from you with that. (Or catch them and throw them into something solid.)
  • 3 of 10: There's a mounted gun set up in the room directly across the level from the stairwell exit, so be sure to keep a large support beam between you and that room while fighting the manhacks.
  • 4 of 10: You can strafe in and out of cover and lob frag grenades at the mounted gun room if you want, but there's an easier way.
  • 5 of 10: Use the gravity gun to pull an upright barrel to you, then hold that so that it's always directly between you and the mounted gun as you move over toward it. With the barrel in the way, the gunner won't think to fire at you. (What a dumbo!)
  • 6 of 10: Use your barrel cover to move over to where you're right next to the broken window that the gun is sticking out of.
  • 7 of 10: WARNING: Two more manhacks may attack at this point. They don't always, but be ready to quickly drop your barrel and destroy them with the gravity gun in case they show up.
  • 8 of 10: Set the barrel down nearby, then take your time in carefully lobbing a grenade through the window.
  • 9 of 10: If the first grenade doesn't kill all the soldiers in the mounted gun room, toss in another one.
  • 10 of 10: If you run out of grenades before killing the soldiers, you can go around the nearby support beam to find an open doorway to a room with two supply crates in it, one of which contains frag grenades. (Note that you'd better use your trusty barrel disguise as you go to and from that room.)
