2 of 5: Drive on down to the closed gate and park the car, then go back and get the gnome if it fell out somewhere along the way.
3 of 5: Drop it somewhere near the gate and leave it there until after you drive up to the base's entrance.
4 of 5: When you do, get out of the car and go back to where you left the gnome on foot, then carry it all the way to the base entrance.
5 of 5: While keeping ahold of the gnome, follow Alyx along until Chapter 6, Section 1 loads.
