1 of 2: If you want to skip the last bit of the regular path, you can stand near the door you entered the mounted gun area through and use the pistol to shoot the explosive barrel that you can see off in the distance to the left of the building that's ahead.
2 of 2: Doing this will open the gate, and you can now go back through the garage area to get back to the airboat.
