Half-Life 2 Hints

9mm Pistol

Damage: 5 per round

This weapon is weak but quick-firing and accurate over long distances, so it's very useful for shooting enemies at a distance. It's also good for detonating explosive items that are near distant enemies. However, use more powerful weapons like the shotgun and SMG for close-up fighting whenever you have the option.

TIP: Remember that two pistol shots will cause an explosive barrel to start flaming, and a third will blow it up immediately. Always use two pistol shots followed by a hasty retreat when shooting nearby explosive barrels.

NOTE: The pistol has an odd Secondary Fire feature. To try it out, press and hold the Secondary Fire key, then press and hold the Primary Fire key, too. Wait up to 10 seconds, then release the Secondary Fire key first. The pistol will fire up to 18 bullets at once (depending on how long you waited). This is rarely useful, but is an interesting little hidden feature.
