Half-Life 2 Hints

Standard Strategy

  • 1 of 9: In this strategy, you run around in the base area, shooting soldiers and using the infinite ammo crates for grenades and SMG ammo.
  • 2 of 9: The frag grenade crate is in a side room in one of the larger houses. The SMG ammo crate is just outside that same house.
  • 3 of 9: If you need time to scout out the base and see where everything is, park the jeep outside the garage so that the attack doesn't begin yet, then look around all you want.
  • 4 of 9: When you're ready, take the jeep all the way into the garage and then leave through the side door to get the attack started.
  • 5 of 9: When the dropships start coming, stay with the resistance members and help them shoot the soldiers, preferably from a distance with the pistol or .357. (Too bad there's no ammo crates for those!)
  • 6 of 9: Resistance members with medic symbols on their sleeves can heal you if you get low on health, and others will often resupply you with ammo.
  • 7 of 9: Remember that the dropships have cannons similar to the ones on gunships that they'll use to shoot at you if you're not behind cover while they're making their drops.
  • 8 of 9: WARNING: Don't try to throw frag grenades at soldiers while their dropship is still hovering right above them. Not only will you come under fire from the dropship's cannon, but the air currents it causes by hovering just above the ground can blow your grenades right back at you!
  • 9 of 9: Keep running around and shooting soldiers until all of the dropships are gone and the gunship shows up, at which time you need to head for the lighthouse.
