Half-Life 2 Hints
Optional Building Notes
of 9: There are two ways to get to these two buildings, both of which are a bit of a pain to do.
of 9: One way is to slide down the slanted log nearby, then use the gravity gun to manipulate objects to make it safely to the ramp that leads up to the second building.
of 9: That ramp starts a ways off, beyond both buildings, so you'll have to use the strategy of setting a couple of pieces of stuff in front of you, walking across them, then turning around and reusing them. You'll eventually make it to the ramp.
of 9: The "shortcut" way is to search the large grassy hill that's near the down-slanting log to find a long wooden plank.
of 9: Throw the junk off the plank, then pick the plank up and carefully place it so that it spans the gap from a slightly lower ledge on your grassy hill to the one with the nearest building.
of 9: This is a very tricky placement, so keep trying until you get it. To make it a bit easier, pick the plank up from one end instead of the middle.
of 9: If you use this plank shortcut, you'll need to use the plank again to get up to the second building.
of 9: These buildings can really be worth getting to, since one of them has an unlimited pulse rifle ammo crate (shoot down some seagulls!), and the other one has three armor batteries in a supply crate.
of 9: There's also a supply crate on a high-up ledge near the first building that you can pull down with the gravity gun, but it won't have anything special in it.
