Half-Life 2 Hints

Antlion Guard (Myrmidont)

  • Health: 500
    Attack Damage: 20 from head butt and 10 from shove
    First Seen: Sandtraps, Section 3

    This is the antlions' mightiest warrior breed, and is very tough to take down. You have to keep avoiding his charges and head butts (strafing helps) while throwing explosives at him or keeping up a steady fire of bullets. Watch out for him knocking nearby large items at you, and use whatever cover and terrain advantages you can find.

    NOTE: There are three places in the game where you encounter antlion guards, and in every case there's a trick way to avoid having to fight it. See the specific hints for those encounters for all the details.
