General Antlion-Using Tips
1 of 6: Hitting a Combine soldier directly with bugbait will briefly incapacitate him as well as attracting nearby antlions to him. Double trouble for him!
2 of 6: Also remember that you can keep your antlion army moving ahead of you by tossing bugbait a ways in front of you periodically. That way the antlions will act as advance scouts and as a sort of living shield for you.
3 of 6: You usually have four antlions with you at a time, though you sometimes have six. When one gets killed, another will spawn nearby and join you.
4 of 6: That means you don't have to worry about sending them into heavy enemy fire -- they're an unlimited resource, just like the pheropods.
5 of 6: You also don't have to worry about them turning on you if you accidentally (or purposely) injure or kill them.
6 of 6: NOTE: It's also sometimes useful to throw a pheropod when the antlions are clustered all around you just so you can move!
