Half-Life 2 Hints

How can I get up to that higher floor?

  • 1 of 12: Notice the large gimmicky board in the middle of the room that's leaning on a big pipe piece.
  • 2 of 12: The pipe could act as a fulcrum for a lever!
  • 3 of 12: You're not going to toss something super-heavy onto the other side while standing on one side, though. How many times has that actually worked in the cartoons? (The person/coyote who tries it always ends up splattered against something solid.)
  • 4 of 12: Notice that the low end of the board lever is near the higher floor that you need to get up onto.
  • 5 of 12: What if the other end were weighted down so that the lower end was raised up? Maybe then you could run across the board and jump onto the higher floor.
  • 6 of 12: You could stand on the edge of the high end until it goes down, then quickly run and jump onto the higher floor, but there's an easier way.
  • 7 of 12: Find some stuff that'll stay on the high end to weight it down during the running and jumping process.
  • 8 of 12: Look around for heavy things that Gordon can pick up and carry around.
  • 9 of 12: There are lots of cement blocks lying around.
  • 10 of 12: Try picking them up and then dropping them on the high end of the lever one at a time.
  • 11 of 12: Once you get five cement blocks set on the high end of the board, it'll lower to where you can hop onto it from on the ground.
  • 12 of 12: Do so, then take a running jump across to the higher floor.
