Half-Life 2 Hints

Hunter-Chopper

  • Health: 5,600
    Attack Damage: 5 from bullets and 30 from bomb strike
    First Seen: Route Kanal, Section 3 (only killable in Water Hazard, Section 8)

    This powerful helicopter is something to be avoided, not fought (at least, in most cases). Whenever you have to move through an area with one of these in the air, sprint from cover to cover to avoid most of the damage from its guns when you're on foot, and drive like a madman from one area to the next if you're in the airboat.

    The chopper can't fire continuously, but only in short bursts, so use this to your advantage when maneuvering past one. You won't actually be able to destroy a chopper until near the end of Water Hazard.

    NOTE: Choppers have bunches of little time bombs they drop in your path if you're driving the airboat, so be careful to dodge around those (or shoot them out if you have the gauss gun).
