Half-Life 2 Hints
Manhack
Health: 25
Attack Damage: 5 per hit from blade
First Seen: Route Kanal, Section 4
These small flying machines are similar to scanners with the very important exception that they have a built-in whirling blade weapon. They have no ranged attacks, but can only damage you up close. It's safest to shoot manhacks with a more powerful gun than the pistol (like the SMG or shotgun), but it's usually safe enough to just whack them with the crowbar until they die.
Once you get the gravity gun, you can use it to suck in manhacks and throw them against something solid, or you can hit them as they approach you with quick regular-fire bursts to knock them back and damage them. (This is best if several are approaching you from the same direction.)
COOL TRICK: Use the gravity gun to suck in and hold onto a manhack. It'll be like having a chainsaw, meaning you can cut up enemies by running around and pushing the manhack into them. (When you're through, just toss the thing into a wall.)
