What's the neat alternate way?
1 of 8: Instead of walking along the right-hand lift track, you're going to be going along the left one.
2 of 8: Unfortunately, you're going to need to take a stepping-stone item with you to make this work.
3 of 8: About the only things available are barrels, so go grab a barrel from somewhere.
4 of 8: Use the gravity gun to get the barrel upright if it isn't, then hold onto it as you start out along the lift's left track.
5 of 8: When you come to the small balcony with the hopper on it, carefully set the barrel onto the lift track and use it to jump over the railing. (Don't let the barrel overturn or fall -- you still need it.)
6 of 8: Pull up the hostile hopper with the gravity gun and set it gently down at the start of the short hallway that leads to the locked blue doors. (It'll blow up a soldier or two for you later if you do this.)
7 of 8: Use the gravity gun to draw your barrel up to where you are, then hop over the railing on the other side and continue down the left lift track carrying the barrel.
8 of 8: When you come to the catwalk you're trying to get to, again carefully set the barrel on the lift track and use it to jump over the rail.
