Half-Life 2 Hints
Submachine Gun (SMG)
Damage: 4 per bullet (fires about 13 per second) and 100 from grenade
Clip / Reserve: 45 / 225
Grenade Reserve: 3
First Found: Route Kanal, Section 4
This is Half-Life 2's counterpart to Half-Life's MP5 assault rifle, which many players adopted as their weapon of choice for most situations. Despite the fact that the SMG is less accurate for long-distance work, you'll probably find that it's as big a favorite as the old MP5 was. It's great for spraying groups of enemies at close-to-medium range, and a close-range burst to the head can quickly take down most enemies.
The grenades are, as always, good for blowing up tightly packed groups of weaker foes or badly damaging a more powerful creature. Remember that these are contact grenades, meaning they explode upon contact with something solid rather than bouncing or rolling around.
NOTE: No enemy in the game is ever allowed to use SMG grenades against you, so that's one thing from the original Half-Life that you don't have to worry about anymore.
