PLOT SPOILER: What's been going on since the original Half-Life?
1 of 5: It seems that the interdimensional rift caused by the disaster at the Black Mesa facility attracted the attention of another vast dimension-hopping alien menace called the Combine.
2 of 5: They attacked Earth and waged war with it for seven hours, after which they accepted Earth's surrender from a fast-talker named Dr. Wallace Breen.
3 of 5: Breen was the administrator of the Black Mesa facility back in the old days, and is now the Interim Administrator of Earth. (Clearly a power-mad dirtbag.)
4 of 5: Exactly who the G-Man works for, whether he has anything to do with the Combine, and what he hopes Freeman can do for him and his mysterious employers will remain mysteries, at least until Half-Life 3.
5 of 5: However, keep an eye out for ol' G, who'll be appearing and watching you from a distance periodically like in the old game. Also watch for other familiar faces, like Barney Calhoun from Blue Shift.
