Half-Life 2 Hints
Section 6: The Gauss Cannon (d1_canals_11)
of 14: You can breathe a huge sigh of relief when you enter this chapter section. You won't have to deal with that chopper again until after you have a powerful airboat-mounted gun to shoot it with.
of 14: In fact, your current goal is to get to the resistance hideout where your new gun will be installed. To do that, you first have to get past the big metal gate nearby.
of 14: Turn left and keep going until you come to the front gate of the resistance hideout.
of 14: After they open the gate, move forward and get off on the narrow landing platform on the right.
of 14: Follow the guy who talks to you (and bash any supply crates you find) until he says your new gauss cannon installation should be about finished.
of 14: Return to the airboat to find the vortigaunt putting the finishing touches on it. That chopper's gonna be sorry it ever picked on you!
of 14: Either before or after they open the exit gate to allow you to leave, try out the new gauss gun on the crates in the water and the two barnacles hanging on the ceiling just past the gate.
of 14: As you round the corner in the tunnel, watch for the chopper to appear at the tunnel exit ahead of you.
of 14: TIP: After you chase off the chopper, there are plenty of things (including supply crates) you can practice shooting before passing under the train bridge. Since you can fire while zoomed, hang back and practice shooting things from a distance in zoom mode.
of 14: After going under the train bridge and over another ramp, you'll soon come to yet another cop ambush area. (Yes, they're up to their old tricks again.)
of 14: Past that is a cop-infested tunnel you need to go through. There are no real tips here except to proceed very slowly and use zoom mode to shoot all the cops and explosive barrels from the maximum possible distance.
of 14: After you get past the cop-attack portion of the tunnel, Section 7: Cops and APCs will load.
