Half-Life 2 Hints
Where am I going to get something heavy enough to work?
of 10: It's clearly going to have to be something very, very heavy, and Gordon can't pick up and carry things that are that heavy.
of 10: Therefore, logic dictates (in shorthand) that the item you seek must be on a platform almost directly above the elevator so that you can push it in from there.
of 10: If you stand back and look up, you'll see that there is indeed a wooden platform a ways above and just to the right of the elevator, and it has a large white device on it that looks like a washing machine. That's bound to be plenty heavy!
of 10: But how are you going to get up there so that you can push the thing? There aren't any ladders next to it, and the elevator isn't going to that floor.
of 10: Looking to the right of the platform you need to get to, you'll see that it can be dropped onto from on a yellow metal piece, which is in turn connected to the top of the nearby huge cement pipe segment by a rickety wooden bridge.
of 10: Explore around in the two huge pipe segments to see if you can find a way to get up on top of the first one.
of 10: Look on the cement wall between the two pipe segments to find a ladder.
of 10: Climb the ladder to a little ledge, then drop down onto the top of the first pipe segment.
of 10: Walk across it and carefully along the wooden bridge, then move along the yellow metal until you can drop down onto the washing machine's platform.
of 10: Now just push it along until it drops into the elevator, and your ramp will be ready! (After you pull the lever next to the elevator if you haven't yet.)
