General Zombie-Killing Tips

  • 1 of 8: Many zombies you come across will start out sitting around in a semi-dormant condition. They'll always climb slowly to their feet when approached or damaged.
  • 2 of 8: They can't attack you with their arm swings while they're sitting down or climbing to their feet, so take advantage of that time to get in some free shots (or whacks with the crowbar if you're close enough for that).
  • 3 of 8: Since there's various pieces of junk (and often explosive barrels) lying around in just about every area, your primary means of killing zombies will be using the gravity gun to throw stuff at them.
  • 4 of 8: The most effective thing to do is throw an explosive barrel or gas canister at a group of zombies while standing at a safe distance. Even those that aren't killed instantly will catch fire and burn to death in seconds.
  • 5 of 8: When that's not an option, throw the large rusty saw blades that you can find in many places. If no saw blades are available, use large and heavy things like radiator grilles and furniture.
  • 6 of 8: Whenever you're shooting bullets or throwing something non-explosive with the gravity gun, remember to always aim for zombies' heads to be sure that the headcrab dies, too.
  • 7 of 8: Speaking of headcrabs, you'll find some running around loose in several different areas. When you do, either use standard tactics as outlined in the general Headcrab info, or shoot them with several Primary Fire bursts from the gravity gun.
  • 8 of 8: There are also specially rigged traps of various sorts scattered throughout Ravenholm that can be used to kill zombies and headcrabs. Watch for them!
