Soldier Combat Tips

  • 1 of 8: Once again, park near the thumper so the antlions won't be bothering you while you raid the area.
  • 2 of 8: There are three Combine soldiers in the house that's up the ramp, so park the jeep facing that house in case they hear you approach and come out after you. Blast them with the tau cannon!
  • 3 of 8: If an antlion or two approach from behind the nearby shed, you'll know that the soldiers will soon run out of the house without you having to do anything to attract their attention, so watch for them.
  • 4 of 8: Otherwise, try driving noisily around the area when you first arrive instead of just parking next to the thumper right away.
  • 5 of 8: If none of that works, park next to the house's ramp (facing the right side of the house), then go get their attention on foot and run back for the jeep.
  • 6 of 8: Or you can use the gravity gun to throw the red gas cans near the house's unblocked door at the soldiers, then retreat and SMG them as they come out after you.
  • 7 of 8: You can burn up the shotgun soldier early by throwing your first red gas can against the approximate center of the wooden wall that's just past the ramp. The soldier is just on the other side of that wall, and should catch fire and die, leaving only two non-shotgun soldiers to shoot down.
  • 8 of 8: Yet another thing you could do is park the jeep near the ramp and then wander around on the walkway near the house without getting the soldiers' attention until antlions start flying up to the house. Quickly knock any antlions away from you and run for the jeep.
