Half-Life 2 Hints

Rocketing Tips

  • 1 of 6: The RPG has a laser guidance system that allows you to steer rockets toward a moving target after they've been launched.
  • 2 of 6: So fire a rocket when the gunship isn't facing you and keep your targeting crosshairs on the gunship as it flies around so that the rocket can follow it.
  • 3 of 6: Unfortunately, the gunship can also follow the rocket around and fire at it, possibly shooting it down before it can connect.
  • 4 of 6: If a rocket is approaching the gunship in an erratic zig-zag or "corkscrewing" fashion, that makes it a lot harder for the gunship to shoot it down. It also makes it harder for you to hit the gunship at all, at least until you practice this technique for awhile.
  • 5 of 6: It also really helps to be fairly close to the gunship when firing at it so that it has less time to dodge or shoot down your rockets.
  • 6 of 6: The best spot to shoot the gunship from is the top floor of the building that Colonel Cubbage is in the basement of. There's plenty of cover despite all the holes in the walls and ceiling, and the gunship will often fly right over you.
