Half-Life 2 Hints
Stockpile Ahead of Time Strategy
1 of 7: To use this strategy, get to the force field control room and clear it out, but *don't* use the wall panel that deactivates the bridge's force fields and summons the gunship. You have some lengthy preparations to undertake first.
2 of 7: If you'll remember, there were five loose rockets lying next to the last infinite rocket crate that you passed on your way across the bridge's girder supports.
3 of 7: If you saved enough of those loose rockets (2 for Normal difficulty and 4 for Hard), you can go back there and carry them to the room under the control room one at a time.
4 of 7: Yes, it's a real pain to carefully make your way across the broken catwalks and slippery girders several times to get those rockets to the room you want them in, but it's worth it.
5 of 7: After you've gotten all you need, go up to the control room and use its panel to deactivate the bridge's force fields.
6 of 7: Now you can go down to the lower room and rocket the gunship to death with the greatest of ease! (Just remember to quicksave after every hit and quickrestore after every miss so you don't run out of rockets.)
7 of 7: And don't forget about the two soldiers outside after you finish with the gunship and start back across the bridge.
