Half-Life 2 Hints

Soldier and Antlion Combat Tips

  • 1 of 9: The first encounter is on the cliffside path, where antlions are attacking a zombie.
  • 2 of 9: Wait in the doorway until there's only one survivor of the battle (usually the zombie), then run forward and finish it off with the SMG.
  • 3 of 9: More antlions will appear and fly up onto the path behind you, so whip out the gravity gun and make your way along the rest of the path walking backwards and knocking away any antlions that run up to you.
  • 4 of 9: There'll be some new soldiers up near the houses and sheds, so hide inside the shed that's just past the end of the path while the soldiers and antlions fight each other.
  • 5 of 9: If there's still a large wooden crate in there, you can use it to partially block the doorway.
  • 6 of 9: NOTE: If you earlier "activated" the poison zombie on the largest house's second floor but ran away without killing it, it may be outside taking part in the battle.
  • 7 of 9: Be ready with the shotgun for any survivors who come into the shed after you, then head outside cautiously and see if there are any other survivors.
  • 8 of 9: After you finish everything off, you can search the area for leftover supplies before moving on.
  • 9 of 9: WARNING: If you go back through the door that leads into the bridge support area, more soldiers will appear near the houses. Due to this, you might want to get any nearby health packs and armor batteries and drop them just outside that door before heading down the cliffside path and returning to the houses.
