Headcrab Ambush Tips

  • 1 of 8: First of all, I sure hope you knocked over the last two sentry guns you encountered (the ones next to the door to the flooded basement), or they'll be shooting you right about now.
  • 2 of 8: As for the fast headcrabs, it takes them a couple of seconds to drop down into the room.
  • 3 of 8: Take advantage of that by running for the double doors as soon as you get through the floor hole.
  • 4 of 8: If you're fast enough, you can get through the doors and close them before any of the headcrabs can get you.
  • 5 of 8: An alternative way is to only knock over one of the sentry guns in the group of two that's next to the basement door, then carry one along with you with the gravity gun as you go through the basement.
  • 6 of 8: You'll have to jump over the rail near the ladder instead of climbing down it, but that won't hurt any, and you can hold the sentry gun up so it'll see and shoot all three of the barnacles for you.
  • 7 of 8: When you get to the fast headcrab room, hop up the rubble and stand in a corner near the doors.
  • 8 of 8: Set the sentry gun down gently, crouch, and use the crowbar to whack any fast headcrabs that sneak around it to get to you. (Or run through the doors and then close them while the headcrabs are distracted by the sentry gun.)
