Soldier Combat Tips
1 of 4: During this and all future combats with Alyx, you need to keep in mind that she is similar to Father Grigori back in Chapter 6 in the following ways: it's impossible for you to purposely or accidentally hurt her, she can take a lot of hits from enemies before dying, and it's an instant game-over for you if she does die.
2 of 4: For this combat, you don't have to do all that much.
3 of 4: You can hang back in the elevator for some cover and toss bugbait around to confuse soldiers while Alyx finishes them off. (Be ready to quickly switch to the gravity gun if a grenade lands near you.)
4 of 4: Or use the SMG to give her some cover fire, since you can get some replacement SMG ammo from the soldiers' remains.
