Headcrab and Tripmine Tips

  • 1 of 7: Two headcrabs are just around the first corner in the shaft.
  • 2 of 7: Sneak carefully up next to the corner and hit the shaft floor with the crowbar to get the headcrabs' attention, then whack them both as they appear ahead of you.
  • 3 of 7: When you drop down to the next shaft segment, have the gravity gun ready to blast the headcrab ahead of you to death before it can get you.
  • 4 of 7: When you get near the other end of the shaft, look through the grating and into the room beyond to see a laser tripmine ready to trip up anyone dropping down out of the shaft.
  • 5 of 7: Simply hit the grating at the end of the shaft with the gravity gun from a ways back in order to knock it forward and blow up the tripmine.
  • 6 of 7: Then move forward and start shooting fast headcrabs with the pistol or SMG as they run back and forth in the room ahead of you.
  • 7 of 7: Or crouch at the end of the shaft and whack the fast headcrabs with the crowbar as they leap at you. (If you're very health-conscious, quicksave after every headcrab kill that doesn't get you injured and quickrestore after every one that does.)
