Half-Life 2 Hints
Using a Shield
1 of 10: First, knock down the big "Nevrin 54" sign with the gravity gun (or wait until the sniper shoots it off).
2 of 10: Use the gravity gun to get the sign to where you can hold it in front of you lengthwise as a sort of shield. (This is basically the same process as setting a knocked-over barrel upright.)
3 of 10: Walk over to the first truck that's in the middle of the street while holding your sign up so that it's between you and the first sniper. (So he'll only see a big yellow sign floating down the street, in other words.)
4 of 10: You should be able to reach the truck and crouch down near its back end without getting shot.
5 of 10: If the sign gets shot out of your hands on the way, run for the truck and crouch down next to it, then pull the sign over to you with the gravity gun.
6 of 10: The second sniper, who's in a building up the side street, will have seen you by now, so be sure you're crouching in a spot where he can't shoot you, either.
7 of 10: When you're ready, get your sign-shield up in front of you again and walk around the back of the truck and all the way over to the base of the first sniper's building.
8 of 10: He isn't under orders to shoot big yellow signs out for a stroll, so you should be able to make it without getting shot or having the sign shot out of your hands.
9 of 10: NOTE: You may be able to make the walk from where you got the sign all the way to the first sniper's building without stopping anywhere, but save before you try it.
10 of 10: Once you're against the building's wall, drop the sign and edge back to where you can lob a frag grenade into the sniper's nest.
