Half-Life 2 Hints

How can I get past the street-n-strider area?

  • 1 of 14: Move ahead until you can drop down into an underground parking area through a large street hole.
  • 2 of 14: TIP: First, toss down any supplies you brought with you that you don't need yet, being careful not to get shot up by the nearby strider as you do so.
  • 3 of 14: Find the wall hole to the left that leads to a small room with a supply crate and a couple of resistance members.
  • 4 of 14: They'll run ahead and start shooting the soldiers who are hiding behind the cars. You should bring up the rear and offer supporting fire.
  • 5 of 14: Check the back of the white van for two armor batteries and a spare .357 Magnum, then find the nearby alcove that has some more supplies in it.
  • 6 of 14: Watch out for three Combine elite who are in the store across the street, and who might cross the street and come charging down the rubble that leads to your area.
  • 7 of 14: Look around for any supplies you need before you run out onto the street and then into the large hole in the street on the left. (Be sure to do this while the strider isn't looking.)
  • 8 of 14: Wait in the middle of the street hole for two soldiers to come to you from the area ahead.
  • 9 of 14: Run out of the street hole and into the store that's straight ahead when the strider's walking off in the other direction.
  • 10 of 14: The windows of this store can be shot out by the strider, but the closed door can't for some reason, so stand behind the door while raiding the nearby supply crates.
  • 11 of 14: When it's safe to do so, head off down the street to the right and quickly duck into a small corner alcove on the right side.
  • 12 of 14: The second strider will kick some cars around as it strides by. Be sure to stay out of sight until it's well down the street.
  • 13 of 14: NOTE: If it leans down and starts firing at you, quickly strafe left within your small niche area to minimize your chance of getting hit.
  • 14 of 14: When it's safe, run back out to the street and head right, dropping down into the large hole that leads to another underground parking area.
