Half-Life 2 Hints

Poison Zombie

  • Health: 175
    Attack Damage: 20 from claws
    First Seen: "We Don't Go to Ravenholm...", Section 3

    This zombie variation is a bit different from the rest. It's slow and clumsy, but it has several poison headcrabs on it that can detach (or be thrown) and attack you separately. Their poison bite followed by a swipe from the zombie will kill you instantly.

    The best way to handle these creatures is by fire -- hit them with an explosive device or shoot an explosive container at them with the gravity gun, then back off while the zombie and headcrabs burn and die. (The SMG is a good weapon for picking off separated poison headcrabs.)

    NOTE: If you're low on ammo, you could maneuver around while the zombie is throwing poison headcrabs at you, whacking them one by one with the crowbar as they land near you. Then move in and use standard zombie-whacking techniques to take the zombie down.
