Half-Life 2 Hints
Where do I go in the train yard?
of 17: NOTE: Metro cops will be firing at you from several safe vantage points where you can't reach them. You need to use cover to your best advantage as you explore. (Also remember that you can sprint now that you have your HEV suit. That'll be handy when running from cover to cover.)
of 17: After you drop down into the train yard through the fencing hole, you can go left or right.
of 17: Right doesn't get you anything except shot up, so head left.
of 17: You'll soon come to an open red train car.
of 17: Jump into it using either the small colored boxes on the ground or the nearby cement ledge that you can jump onto.
of 17: Bash the crates that are in your way, then push your way through the doors near the other end of the train car.
of 17: As you drop to the ground, a train will start approaching on the nearby track. Be sure not to let it run you down.
of 17: Either run ahead of it and cross its track quickly before it reaches you, or just wait until it's past and then follow it.
of 17: Head left when you can to find another train car that's open.
of 17: This open train car has a ladder in it, but quicksave before you climb it.
of 17: When you reach the top of the ladder, quickly turn left and jump to the next train car.
of 17: From there, you need to jump so that you land on the ground on the other side of the fence that's nearby.
of 17: ALTERNATIVE: Instead of that, you can stack stuff from the train car up against the fence so that you can use it to jump over. This is a bit more trouble, but can be a little less hectic, and you won't come under fire until after you've crossed the fence.
of 17: As soon as you land, run for the overturned metal cart, using it and the huge pillars for cover.
of 17: TIP: There's a health kit near the cart that you might want to nab before you bash the boards over the nearby doorway.
of 17: TIP: While crouched behind the cart, you can push it along a bit so that it provides cover for you while you're bashing boards.
of 17: After you bash enough boards to crouch-walk through the doorway, run down the stairs to finally escape the train yard and its trigger-happy cops.
