The Hardy Boys: The Hidden Theft Hints
What should I be doing on the upper floor?
of 18: The first thing to do up here is explore, as there's no indication of the puzzle just yet.
of 18: First, pull away those three purple curtains on the walls. One's blank, one contains some kind of machine with lots of dots on it, and one reveals a message on the wall.
of 18: Did you also notice the shelves at the back of the room? You can read one of the books there -- it's an astrological book, and it talks about eight different constellations.
of 18: Those constellations are the key to getting into the next room.
of 18: Read the four lines of verse on the wall and work out which constellation each line refers to.
of 18: There is a small amount of text by each constellation in the book and you can decide from those which you are going to need.
of 18: The "scuttling" line refers to the crab, Cancer.
of 18: The line about a queen refers to Cassiopeia.
of 18: Orion's nemesis was the evil Scorpius.
of 18: And finally, Andromeda was sacrificed to the sea.
of 18: You now need to find a way to recreate those four constellations on the machine behind the left curtain.
of 18: It is possible to simply go and draw them on there by connecting the dots, but there is a MUCH simpler way.
of 18: Did you ever trace pictures when you were very young?
of 18: You need to trace the constellations out of the book, then place them over the machine. This will show you exactly which lines to join to create them.
of 18: Use a sheet of paper on each of the four necessary constellations, then use the crayon on them to get a tracing.
of 18: Now take these tracings one at a time and use them with the machine. Once it's displayed on the grid, simply click and drag between each of the points to recreate the pattern.
of 18: Once it's done, each constellation will be displayed on the roof of the observatory.
of 18: Once all four are finished, the blank wall you saw earlier will slide away, revealing a hidden door!
