Half-Life: Blue Shift Hints
Flashlight Problems
1 of 6: Everyone I know who's played Blue Shift has had problems getting the flashlight to work. Pressing the F key doesn't always turn the thing on or off like it should.
2 of 6: The first way I figured out to overcome this problem is to push up against a wall, facing it. Then the F key will almost always work.
3 of 6: However, some users e-mailed in saying that this doesn't work for them. I then made the following two suggestions, neither of which worked for everyone (but they're worth trying).
4 of 6: You can press the Pause key, press F, then press Pause again.
5 of 6: Also try bringing down the Cheat Code's console and typing "impulse 100" (w/o quotes). That's the internal command for turning the flashlight on and off. Even though that's what the F key is set to do when you press it, you may find that typing "impulse 100" on the console works when the F key doesn't.
6 of 6: If you can never get your flashlight to work at all, then give in and use the "r_fullbright 1" Cheat Code to fully illuminate the dark areas you're having trouble with.
