How do I get past the room with the crane control?
1 of 15: Not easily, unless you use the noclip cheat.
2 of 15: First, explore the room to find items you can use.
3 of 15: There's the crane control and its two levers. Try pushing them around.
4 of 15: Also, there's a green barrel and a short box that you can push and pull around.
5 of 15: That red ladder up on the wall near one of the lifts is what you're trying to get to.
6 of 15: Get the picture yet?
7 of 15: You need to use the left lever (left as you face the panel from behind it) to lower the left lift to a height where you can jump from it onto the two large wooden crates that are near it.
8 of 15: But then to get onto that lift, you'll have to create some makeshift steps using the barrel and box.
9 of 15: Move the barrel up next to the lift, then move the box next to the barrel. Then you should be able to jump from the floor to the box, from the box to the barrel, and from the barrel to the lift.
10 of 15: Then you can hopefully jump from the lift to the tops of the wooden crates. If not, drop down and try adjusting the lift's height, then try it again. (After trying a jump-crouch, which sometimes works when a regular jump doesn't.)
11 of 15: As for the other lift, it obviously needs to be where you can jump to it from the top of the large crates, and where you can jump onto the red ladder from it without falling off.
12 of 15: Adjust it so that its bottom is just a little ways under the ladder bottom, and try it (after saving).
13 of 15: Once you're on the second lift, face the ladder, look upwards a bit, then make a running jump at the ladder, and lean on the up arrow key (but NOT the Jump key) to climb it.
14 of 15: If you fall off, restore your save and try again.
15 of 15: Past the top of the ladder, it's just a short way to the drainage canal, but there are several alien slaves to watch out for, as well as some rubble dropping from the ceiling (which may damage you if you're under it).
