Half-Life: Blue Shift Hints
How do I handle another floating platform area with a big center section?
1 of 7: Use the two nearest floaters to jump out to the center section.
2 of 7: There are two more floaters that lead to a big cave entrance off to the left, but it's very hard (though not impossible) to quickly jump across to the cave before the second floater is blown up. The only benefits to doing so are getting the ammo canister that's in the cave, and using the .357 to shoot the alien slaves that teleport onto the center ring from a safe distance. If you do this, then use the cave's teleport orb to return to the center ring once the slaves are all dead.
3 of 7: If you don't want to bother with the cave, you'll need to quickly hide behind the two alien "trees" that are near the healing pool when you hear the troopship starting its first fly-by. That way you can use the trees for cover while shooting the alien slaves that teleport in.
4 of 7: Stay behind the "trees" until all the slaves are dead and the troopship does its second flyby, which wrecks a couple of sections of the center segment.
5 of 7: It also topples one of the tall trees.
6 of 7: Jump over the smaller broken section in the central donut-shaped structure and walk around to where you can jump onto the toppled tree and walk carefully along it.
7 of 7: On the other side, look for a breakable "manhole" covering on the ground and use it to drop down to the next section.
