Half-Life: Opposing Force Hints

How do I get past the electrified radioactive waste in the crate-loading room?

  • 1 of 14: Initially, you can just jump across the radioactive sludge, but to reach the closed door in the far corner of the room, you will have to be a bit more creative.
  • 2 of 14: Check out the crate mover suspended from the ceiling. It might come in handy.
  • 3 of 14: Clear the crate mover by taking aim at the one explosive box sitting on it.
  • 4 of 14: Start looking for the controls to the crate mover.
  • 5 of 14: A control room overlooks the crate storage room. The controls in the control room are for the crate mover. The entranceway to the control room is just opposite the large doorway you want to get through.
  • 6 of 14: The only control you need to worry about is the little lever that shifts the crate mover left and right.
  • 7 of 14: Basically, you need to use the crate mover as a sort of stepping-stone over to the doorway.
  • 8 of 14: Move the crate mover just in front of the large door but not all of the way to the left.
  • 9 of 14: You will need to make two trips over to the large door if you are going to do this right.
  • 10 of 14: First, you need to open the door by pushing the door's button.
  • 11 of 14: Climb the nearby boxes, jump onto the crate mover, and then jump across to the door's button. Push the button and then jump back across to the other side of the sludge.
  • 12 of 14: Second, you need to get into a position where you can jump through the door and onto dry ground.
  • 13 of 14: This time you need to jump from the crate mover onto the box that is just right of the door (the one with a headcrab on it), and then jump from that box over to the dry ground just inside the doorway.
  • 14 of 14: Head out and into the tram tunnels.
