The Hand of Fate Hints
How do I open these locks at the Towers of Anoi?
of 9: Haven't you ever heard of that game before?
of 9: The object is normally to move piles one disk at a time, with the smallest disks on top.
of 9: But since these towers are reversed, you want the larger disks on the top of the pile.
of 9: You need to move the piles on top of both the left and center holes to unlock each one individually -- there's nothing on the right side.
of 9: Just try working a few moves ahead at a time. With only five disks, you should get the answer eventually. If you want the full solutions, read ahead to the next hint.
of 9: I will use the notation "13" to mean "move a disk from the third (i.e., rightmost) pile to the first (left) one" in the following few hints.
of 9: To open the left lock: 31 32 12 31 23 21 31 32 12 13 23 12 31 32 12 31 23 21 31 23 12 13 23 21 31 32 12 31 23 21 31.
of 9: The same basic pattern will open the middle lock. Read ahead for the answer (which assumes that you've already placed the disks on the left as described in the previous hint).
