Sherlock Holmes vs. Jack the Ripper Hints
How does the desk's magnet puzzle work?
of 9: There are two magnets on opposite sides of the puzzle, and you need to switch their positions.
of 9: Click on either magnet to select it, then start moving it around the puzzle board. (Note that you don't need to hold the mouse button down.)
of 9: The big catch is that if either magnet even barely touches one of the stationary bars, both magnets will be immediately reset to their starting locations.
of 9: Your first goal is to get the magnets to "meet" in the center of the board.
of 9: Click on the top left magnet, then move it slowly down until the other magnet is halfway between the two horizontal bars nearest it.
of 9: Slowly move your magnet right so that the other one will go left between the horizontal bars without touching them.
of 9: When it's past those bars, bring your magnet down until the two magnets are horizontally even with each other.
of 9: Then start slowly moving your magnet to the right. When it's close to touching a horizontal bar, start moving it down.
of 9: It should then be pretty easy to move it between the two horizontal bars and down to where the other magnet started out. Once it's there, you'll automatically release the magnets.
