Sherlock Holmes vs. Jack the Ripper Hints

How can I use the wall map to figure out where the Ripper lives?

  • 1 of 11: To get started, go over to the map and click on it after selecting the map tools in inventory.
  • 2 of 11: The first thing to do is place the five little circular green-bordered symbols that you see near the bottom right corner of the screen on their appropriate location markers.
  • 3 of 11: The next thing to do is connect the farthest-apart victims to each other to form a sort of cross shape.
  • 4 of 11: Holmes will then ask you to draw a line from Dutfield's Yard to Mitre Square, so pick up the pencil again if necessary and click on those two spots.
  • 5 of 11: He then asks you to draw a complicated-sounding ellipsis, so click on the instrument shown to the right of the pencil.
  • 6 of 11: Point the pencil at the approximate midpoint of the green line connecting Dutfield's Yard and Mitre Square, then click to choose it as your center.
  • 7 of 11: Move the pencil to the right until the ellipsis just barely contains the Dutfield's Yard and Mitre Square markers, then click to finish it.
  • 8 of 11: Next, Holmes wants you to draw a circle around the killer's "safe zone."
  • 9 of 11: Start by choosing the compass and clicking on the Goulston Street marker to establish your center.
  • 10 of 11: Then move the pencil up until the circle just barely includes the Mitre Street marker, and click to finish.
  • 11 of 11: Now click around inside the area that's contained within both the red circle and yellow ellipsis until it gets shaded red and identified as the Aldgate district.
