Sherlock Holmes vs. Jack the Ripper Hints
How can I determine the time of the murder?
of 13: Start by clicking the hand cursor on the board that's on the wall just to the left of Holmes' experiment table.
of 13: That'll bring up a view of a timeline board, on which you need to arrange various events in order.
of 13: Now for the six other cards shown. You'll have to find relevant documents and conversations in your case notebook from which to fill them out.
of 13: Click on a card to bring up a list of documents or dialogues (depending on which one the card is connected to), then look for something useful.
of 13: When you find something, click on the large "Use this document as proof" button that's at the bottom of the right page to make some fact cards from it. You can then select other useful documents before exiting back to the timeline view.
of 13: Once you get symbols and descriptions for all six of the other timeline cards, you can place the symbols on the timeline board.
of 13: When you pick up a symbol, Holmes will make a comment, but it won't tell you the exact time you need to place the symbol at. You'll have to check the two relevant documents and the one relevant dialogue to find them.
of 13: Or check the answers below, which tell exactly where each symbol goes.
of 13: Holmes and Watson will have a short conversation after you place everything correctly, then you'll need to make some adjustments based on an idea that Holmes has.
of 13: Holmes then says to place the knife symbol at the exact time of death.
of 13: It's reasonable to assume that the woman died between the time Cadosch heard something (undoubtedly her) hitting the fence, and the time he headed off for work.
of 13: So put the time of death (the big Ripper-style knife symbol) at precisely 5:30. Doing so will complete the timeline board.
