Theme Hospital Hints

The queues for reception are getting rather large.

  • 1 of 8: This might mean you have a really inefficient receptionist.
  • 2 of 8: Or more likely, it might mean that you need to expand.
  • 3 of 8: Your receptionists will generally try to allocate the proper amount of people to each room, based on the maximum queue size setting.
  • 4 of 8: To keep your queues low, you may need to build more rooms.  GP's offices are usually the most clogged and therefore cause the most backups in the reception queues.
  • 5 of 8: You can also change the "try at queue size" setting for a particular room to a higher level.  This option lets you adjust how many people the receptionists will try to allocate to a particular room.  If you have too many people for your rooms, then your reception queue will clog up.
  • 6 of 8: If your reception queue is getting seriously out of hand, you can always send the people away, one by one.
  • 7 of 8: Or, if you have an insanely large reception queue, remove all of the receptionists from each of their desks.  Then, place them elsewhere in the hospital and your queue will immediately empty from the lack of service. Afterwards, your receptionists will immediately return to their posts.
  • 8 of 8: Be careful when doing this, because you will drastically reduce the percentage of patients waited on.
