The Ideal Hospital

  • In general, you will want to create "wings" that group certain kinds of rooms.  For example, place a GP's Office and General Diagnosis in one building, and then place an Inflation Clinic and a Slack Tongue Clinic in another.  This allows you to easily locate rooms that require maintenance, know where queue backups are, etc.  You can always create rooms temporarily and then organize them later.  With the exception of the Research and Training wing, you will want to have proper seating and drink machine coverage in each of these wings.

In the ideal hospital, the hospital would be situated as follows:

Place GP's Offices and General Diagnosis Rooms close together and in their own wing.  You will probably want to include a staff room and a restroom nearby.  Next you can have an advanced diagnosis wing.  This would include Cardiogram, Scanner, X-Ray, Blood Machine, UltraScan, etc, so you can easily checkon the usage of these machines.  You would probably want to ALT-F# this spot, so you can return quickly in case a machine is in disrepair.  A small staff room and toilet facility should also be nearby.

Then you would have a treatment wing, which would include Pharmacies, Psychiatric, Ward, Operating Theatre, and if possible, all of your clinics.  Your treatment wing should be located near your HeliPad, so you can complete emergencies more quickly.  You should probably also ALT-F# this wing.  If you need a clinic wing, place it near the HeliPad as well.  If necessary, ALT-F# this wing.  And finally, place a research and training wing out of the way and away from the public.  This wing would only need one or two benches and some radiators.

This hospital would be efficient and smooth running, but the programmers have made it very difficult to achieve such a hospital.  Try to use this as a template for your hospital, but realize that you will need to make some compromises.
