Theme Hospital Hints

How can I successfully react to an emergency?

  • 1 of 8: There are many things you should initially take into account.  To begin with, a good hospital setup is important.
  • 2 of 8: Try to build all of your treatment facilities somewhat near the helicopter landing pad.  Doing so will greatly reduce the time patients spend to reach their destination.
  • 3 of 8: Build multiple rooms -- have two or three Pharmacies, maybe two Psychiatric Rooms, etc.
  • 4 of 8: Make sure that there are enough benches for the patients to sit on relatively close by.  This will keep patients from traveling incredibly long distances just to reach their specific room.
  • 5 of 8: Keep the rooms properly staffed.  Make sure that there is a doctor or nurse in each treatment room or at least on the way to the treatment rooms.
  • 6 of 8: Take into account that staff get tired.  You may want to boost the level at which they retire to the staff room way up.  Just don't forget to turn back down after the emergency.
  • 7 of 8: Also make sure that the machines are well-maintained.  If a machine has been used at about 3/4 capacity, the doctor will page a handyman and will not receive patients until the handyman has finished repairing the machines.
  • 8 of 8: On final note, get to know the capacity at which your hospital can receive patients.  For example, you can generally only squeeze in 6 patients with the King Complex before time runs out.  This may vary depending on your hospital, how close the treatment rooms are, etc.
