Ico Hints
I'm having trouble getting Yorda to follow me!
1 of 6: As a general rule, you should have Yorda hold Ico's hand whenever you can. The R1 button will make Ico call Yorda if she's far away or will have her grab his hand if she's nearby.
2 of 6: Yorda can climb up small heights and take short jumps on her own. You can always try R1 when you're on the other side of a gap or on top of some steps to see if she can join you.
3 of 6: Other times, you'll need to give her a little help. Press and hold R1 to extend a helping hand, either to help her climb or to catch her at the end of a jump.
4 of 6: Yorda also cannot climb chains or ropes -- these are for Ico only. Odds are that if you see one of these, you'll need to split up for a bit to clear an easier path for Yorda.
5 of 6: Guide or call Yorda across obstacles one at a time. You may need to retrace your steps a bit to get closer to her before you can call her.
6 of 6: Getting Yorda up and down ladders is often tricky. You sometimes have to walk her right to the bottom of the ladder, then climb to the top, and press R1 again to get her to follow. You can't call her while you're on a ladder, and if Yorda's too far from the ladder, she may just get confused and walk around in circles. Bringing her right to the ladder before you start climbing usually helps.
