Icewind Dale Hints
Finding the Third Piece
1 of 7: This one can be found in the sub-tower entered by the top-right staircase on level 4.
2 of 7: This one also has four levels, and the machine piece is on the second.
3 of 7: On the first and second levels, you'll have to fight two large, and tough, groups of shadowed elven fighters.
4 of 7: A good strategy is to send in one character to start the fight, and then run him out and cast some powerful area effect spells into the room where the elves are, to weaken them.
5 of 7: The machine piece can be found in a table to the right of the map table on the second level.
6 of 7: The third level has some treasures on it, and the fourth is the arboretum level.
7 of 7: The caretaker of the arboretum will ask for your help, but you can't find the items he needs until near the end of the game, and all you get is some XP.
