Icewind Dale II Hints

Destroy the dam.

  • 1 of 10: To weaken the dam, which forms the northern border of the Shaengarne Dam area, you need to find and bash three of its supports.
  • 2 of 10: One of the supports is right next to where you appear when you enter the dam area from the pass area.
  • 3 of 10: This support registers the same way that bashable kegs do; pause the game to see a yellow circle around it.
  • 4 of 10: Click on it to hack at it until it crumbles.
  • 5 of 10: To get to the second and third supports, you'll have to walk along the only path available, which leads through the local malarite camp.
  • 6 of 10: You'll pass the wrecked exit bridge on the left and will then be able to get to the other dam supports (after fighting a bunch more enemies).
  • 7 of 10: The second dam support (the eastern one of the two) is like the first one, except that its "hot spot" is out of reach.
  • 8 of 10: You'll have to have your bowmen and/or spellcasters fire at it from a distance to destroy it.
  • 9 of 10: As for the third and final support, it's in the very NW corner of the area, and just requires you to click on it.
  • 10 of 10: That will collapse it and give you some useful wood. If you've already done the other two supports, you'll get XP and a journal entry about destroying the dam. (Actually, you may get the entry even if you haven't destroyed the other two supports.)
