Icewind Dale II Hints
IMPORTANT NOTE
It is, of course, possible to battle your way through the entire warren area bit by bit, killing all of the goblins, orcs, and so forth in standard hack-n-slash style. However, there's a big XP bonus in it for you if you can sneak your way through level 1 without alerting or battling any of the resident goblin clans. (And you can always go back and get them later after getting the sneak-related XP, which happens when you first enter level 2.)
The following hints assume you're going to try it the sneaky way by using the Hide skill, Invisibility potions and spells, etc. If you decide to hack-n-slash your way brazenly through, you can get the hints you need about getting past obstacles and getting key items and not have to worry about any stealth-related tips.
NOTE: Even if you're using Invisibility potions that claim they last for 12 hours unless you engage in combat, you still can't raid tents or other treasure stashes without becoming visible to the nearby monsters. Also, you can't talk to non-hostiles like Pondmuk without losing your invisibility.
NOTE: When you load a saved game, all of your characters are automatically selected. If you make a save while on a stealth errand and then have to restore it, be sure that only your stealthy characters are selected before you proceed.
