Icewind Dale II Hints
Locate Nheero Fhutma's associate and complete his mission.
1 of 19: You start on this quest by locating Nheero Fhutma.
2 of 19: He's in the prison in the SE part of level 1 of the Dragon's Eye dungeon.
5 of 19: From where you start on level 2, have one character head east as far as he can go and then south.
6 of 19: A large rock will dislodge and roll south after you. Run down to where Mandal's body is and hug the east wall to avoid getting crushed.
7 of 19: After looting the chest near Mandal, return to Nheero on level 1 to report Mandal's fate.
8 of 19: NOTE: The enchanted armor in the chest next to Mandal will put the Death Ward spell on whoever wears it, but it decreases Charisma by 2 and requires a Remove Curse spell to take off. It can be good armor for someone whose Charisma doesn't matter, such as your rogue.
9 of 19: Nheero will tell you that you need to find the Sword of Myrloch Vale and return it to Mandal in order to set his spirit to rest and find out where the modified mandrake root is.
10 of 19: The sword is on level 3, so that's where you need to go next.
11 of 19: The room with the sword you want is a very short distance SW of where you emerge on level 3. Its four entrances are protected by automated "fang" traps, and there's an iron golem standing at the center.
12 of 19: Lure the golem outside the room and destroy it with your best +3 or better weapons.
13 of 19: Then send in one character to carefully dodge the doors' fang traps and grab the sword.
14 of 19: Unfortunately, if you return to where you found Mandal's body on level 2 before, it'll be gone!
15 of 19: But his spirit should be either where his body was, or somewhere in the vicinity. Explore around until you find it.
16 of 19: When you approach Mandal's spirit with the identified Sword of Myrloch Vale in your inventory, the spirit will show you around to a few places, including to where he stashed the fake mandrake root.
17 of 19: After his tour is over, you need to go get that modified mandrake root and use it to sabotage the histachii potion-making process.
18 of 19: After you brew up a sabotaged histachii potion, take it to Nheero and give it to him.
19 of 19: He'll be in the NW corner room of level 2 from now on unless you asked him to research something in the alchemy lab's library or the level 3 NW corner library, in which case he'll be there after transforming back to human form.
