Icewind Dale II Hints

How can I perform the ritual that Toral Sorn wants me to do?

  • 1 of 11: He gave you some instructions, which were noted down in your journal.
  • 2 of 11: You first need to go around and collect four items.
  • 3 of 11: The Tome of Ilmater can be found on level 3 of the Wizard Tower. Use the ALT key to find all of the searchable tables and shelves, including up on the top section.
  • 4 of 11: Madae's old Ilmater holy symbol can be found in her room, which is on the south side of level 3 of the main fortress.
  • 5 of 11: To get Sorn's bonds of the faithful, head up to the second level of the War Tower and get it off of the torture rack next to Harcourt Rustblade. (You'll have to talk to Harcourt and fight him and his lemures before you can take the bonds.)
  • 6 of 11: To get some official tears of suffering, talk to Jerre Stoh down on level 1 of the main fortress about it.
  • 7 of 11: Once you have all four items, head over to the Cleric Tower to do the ritual.
  • 8 of 11: After dealing with Yquog, click on the Ilmater statue (to the left of the central, dominant Xvim statue) and choose to place the items and start reading from the book.
  • 9 of 11: NOTE: Xvim will interrupt and try to get you to make a deal with him. You can if you want to, and he'll get rid of the immortal glabrezu guards for you, but you'll then have no way to purify the radiant pool. It's best to finish the sanctification ritual and fight Xvim's avatar and demons.
  • 10 of 11: After you beat up Xvim and grab his cool items, click on the Ilmater statue again and finish the ritual to get huge XP and a vial of powerful holy water.
  • 11 of 11: Report back to Sorn once you're done with this and again after you've cleansed the radiant pool on level 3 of the main fortress (which just involves tossing your new vial of holy water into it).
