3 of 7: Check the map in the in-game menus.
4 of 7: You'll see that Dawn Star's garden and the town exit are a ways SE of Master Li's quarters.
5 of 7: There are several routes you can use to get there, but the most direct is to go through the doors that are to the right of Master Li's quarters, then go straight SE until you reach the garden.
6 of 7: Approach Dawn Star and Gao the Lesser to be drawn into their less-than-friendly conversation.
7 of 7: After Gao leaves, talk to Dawn Star and get her to start following you.
