Jade Empire Hints
General Tips
of 9: This hint file was written with the PC Special Edition version of the game, so there'll be some minor differences if you're playing the original XBox version. For a full list of the differences, check the Jade Empire FAQs in the PC section of the www.gamefaqs.com website.
of 9: Always look around for lootable containers and readable items wherever you go. You'll get lots more silver and XP if you find them all. (There are also special techniques you can only get by reading certain sets of bookstands or scrollstands.)
of 9: Your Body primary ability is very important due to its influence over your health, but your Mind ability may be even more important. The higher it is, the more focus energy you'll have to use in combat.
of 9: Focus mode is extremely useful, since it's like the SlowMo effect you may know if you've played F.E.A.R. or DOOM 3's expansion game. Everything will seem to slow down, allowing you to more quickly attack your enemies. (It's also your best bet for landing power attacks on fast foes.)
of 9: Another thing that focus energy is good for is using a weapon style. It's especially devastating to use a weapon style and focus mode at the same time. It'll drain your focus energy quickly, but it'll work great against powerful enemies.
of 9: Due to this, most of your primary ability points should be spent on Mind when you level up, with a few occasional points spent on Body. Only spend points on Spirit if you really like the transformation styles, and then only after you get your Body and Mind abilities way high.
of 9: Once you get the Dragon Amulet, be on the lookout for gems that you can put into the amulet to increase your Body and Mind abilities, or your health and focus energy directly.
of 9: Techniques are like permanent increases to your abilities and conversational skills. Some can be bought from merchants, some can be found by looting treasure chests, and others can be gotten in special ways, like by reading a certain set of bookstands or finishing a quest.
of 9: Starting early in Chapter 2, all of your followers who aren't currently with you will be at a base camp area, available for switching out and for conversation. You should talk to each follower periodically about everything you can, especially when they have gold arrows flashing above their heads.
