Journey to the Center of the Earth Hints
How can I turn off the security system?
1 of 6: The security system is housed in what I call the Operations Building. (See the Mine Platform Map)
2 of 6: You must be alone in the building before you can disarm the system. (Talk to the Giant in the building about all topics and he will leave.)
3 of 6: The words above the number panel explain what you are supposed to do. Move all five numbers from one side to the other. If you make a mistake and want to start over, back out of the screen and click on the panel again.
There are 5 white blocks and 5 black blocks, each containing a number, with a space in the middle. To move any block, simply click on it. If it is near to the blank space, it will move there.
A block can be moved into the blank spot next to it, or it will jump over one block to reach it. It cannot go backwards or jump over more than one other block.
4 of 6: Alternate between movements of black and white. It will take 11 moves to complete the puzzle. When you are done, the green light will turn to red and an audible "click" will sound.
5 of 6: Begin by clicking on the Black 8. It moves over into the blank spot (right). Remembering that you can't jump more than one block, your next move should be the White 8 and then the White 1, which both shift to the left.
6 of 6: Then, move over some black blocks -- 8, 1 and then 4. I think you get the idea and can work it yourself from here ... or see below for the step-by-step solution.
