Keepsake Hints
Just tell me a step-by-step solution!
of 16: The first few moves should give you a good feel for how to trap the Minotaur. Since the solution is done step-by-step, you can stop following the solution at any time to complete the puzzle yourself.
of 16: Move the Goblin up. The Minotaur won't move, since the wall blocks horizontal movement. The Minotaur cannot move away from the Goblin, which means he cannot move up or down to go around the wall.
of 16: Move the Goblin up a second time. The Minotaur will move up, then left. Normally, the Minotaur would move horizontally first, but since he cannot move horizontally because of the wall, and he can still move closer to the Goblin by changing his vertical position, he will move up. This puts the Minotaur on the same row as the Goblin, so he completes his turn by moving horizontally.
of 16: Next, move the Goblin down. The Minotaur will move left, then left again. Note that even though the Minotaur would still be moving closer to the Goblin by moving either left or down, he tries to match the horizontal position first, so only moves left.
of 16: Move the Goblin down a second time. The Minotaur will move left twice.
of 16: Move the Goblin down a third time. The Minotaur will move left, then down. Finally, after the Minotaur moves left once, he is on the same column as the Goblin and his second move brings him closer vertically.
of 16: Move the Goblin right. The Minotaur will move down, then right. Note that the wall prevents the Minotaur from moving right first, but he can still move closer to the Goblin by moving down, so he makes that move first, and moves horizontally afterwards.
of 16: Move the Goblin right again. The minotaur moves right, then stops. Since the Minotaur tries to match horizontal position first, he moves horizontally, then gets stuck behind a wall and cannot move a second time (without moving away from the Goblin). At this point, the Goblin can make a few moves without the Minotaur moving, as long as the Goblin does not move higher than the wall restraining the Minotaur.
of 16: For all the following moves, the Minotaur remains trapped: Move the Goblin right twice, down once, right twice again.
of 16: The Minotaur remains trapped as the Goblin moves up twice, then left once.
of 16: Move the Goblin up. The Minotaur can finally move! He moves up and right.
of 16: Move the Goblin up again. The Minotaur moves right twice.
of 16: Move the Goblin left. The Minotaur moves left once and stops. Since he matches the horizontal movement first, he moves horizontally, then cannot move again because of the wall.
of 16: Move the Goblin up twice. The Minotaur remains trapped for these two moves.
of 16: Move the Goblin right. The Minotaur moves right, then up.
of 16: Move the Goblin right a second time. The Minotaur moves right, then up. He is now trapped for the third time, giving the Goblin a lot of free movement again -- only this time, the Goblin can move all the way to the stairs without the Minotaur escaping. Move the Goblin up, then left six times to end the game and receive a prize.
